Willow Park Montessori Day Nursery

Terrapin designed and constructed a 34 place Montessori day nursery located in the grounds of a sports and social club on the outskirts of Ipswich. The building was designed using panel based construction to specifically meet the requirements of an active nursery and the Montessori education method. It has large airy rooms, separated for toddlers and rising fives, each comprising open play and learning areas, with access to the garden enabling classroom activities to extend into the outside environment.

The Montessori education method is widely held to be one of the best systems of nursery education and the movement is at the forefront of the Government’s policy to provide nursery education to all pre-school children in the UK. This new nursery has a total floor area of 171 sq m, with external cladding matching other structures in the vicinity.

The new nursery is owned and managed by Mrs Sam Sims, who has named it Willow Park. She opened her new venture on 21st January this year following a successful inspection by OFSTED, and the facility is proving so popular, she is already talking to Terrapin about an extension.
