Travelodge
A Travelodge Hotel in West London was just one of the hotels to be completed by Terrapin, as part of a construction agreement with Granada.
All the Travelodges by Terrapin were created from the steel frame construction method. The individual modules, consisting of a bedroom and bathroom, were manufactured and pre-finished in the factory, thus maintaining continuity in design and finished quality to match Granada’s high specification.
The Travelodge in West London is made up of five storeys, including undercroft car parking and reception, accessed via automatic aluminium sliding doors on the ground floor, with four storeys of en-suite bedrooms above, accessible by stairs or a lift.
The site was very tight for the construction process, access being between a car showroom and petrol station with a railway behind and the busy Western Avenue in front. The Terrapin construction team undertook all site works in these contracts including foundations, connection to drainage and services, trenching and ducting for telephone and IT services, often having to overcome such problems as poor ground conditions and existing in-ground services.
This particular Travelodge is one of the largest in the London area and was finished to the latest Granada specification.
