Business Improvement Techniques NVQ

Off-site construction company, Terrapin, has presented NVQ certificates in Business Improvement Techniques to fifteen staff employed at its modular buildings manufacturing operation in Milton Keynes. The employees received NVQ level 2 and 3 certificates following training provided by XR Training and Consultancy, which was part funded through the Governments Train to Gain Scheme.

The NVQ course consisted of ten one-day sessions held over five months and focused employees on introducing the principles of Lean Manufacturing directly into their areas of work. The course aims to maximise company profits and revenues by the elimination of waste, the creation of flow through the business through the reduction of cost and variation, and to improve responsiveness by making more effective use of people and physical assets.

The primary objective of the qualification is to improve business performance as a whole and Terrapin believes this can only be done by empowering the people who make up the organisation. David Pollington continues: Top-level management, middle management, supervisory and all other employees have a part to play in improving the performance of the business. The process starts with the Business Improvement Techniques qualification, which enables companies to train employees towards the competencies they need to achieve this goal.

Creditation for our Prospex System reflects the advances we have made in leading the application of off-site building technology in this sector."
