Great Denham Medical Centre
Dr Andrew Gray, having been appointed by Bedford Primary Care Trust to start a new medical centre in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, commissioned Terrapin to provide suitable premises. The new building was on hire for three years, during which time Dr Gray planned on building up the practice, planning and seeking planning permission for a purpose-built permanent building.
Using off-site construction methods, Terrapin designed the surgery building to comply with nationally laid down standards for General Practitioners’ accommodation. The total floor area of 7,596 sq ft provides consulting rooms, treatment rooms, staff and common rooms, toilets, waiting and administration areas, making it fully equipped to enable the practice to develop its services to the public of Great Denham and the surrounding areas. The building is attractive in appearance; part single and part double storey, with a pitched roof.
Although Dr Gray would be the sole doctor at first, the building is equipped for four doctors, plus a quality team of medical professionals to be employed as the practice grows.
